Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and skilled Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of heavy-duty trucks and construction equipment. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and efficiency. The mechanic will play a key role in minimizing downtime and ensuring that all vehicles and machinery are operating at peak performance.

Duties

  • Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on dump trucks, trailers, excavators, skid steers, and other heavy equipment.

  • Conduct preemptive inspections to identify and address mechanical issues before they lead to downtime.

  • Troubleshoot and repair diesel and gas engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, brakes, and transmissions.

  • Perform welding and fabrication as needed for equipment repairs.

  • Maintain accurate records of all repairs, maintenance schedules, and parts inventory.

  • Ensure compliance with DOT and OSHA safety standards.

  • Collaborate with drivers and equipment operators to identify mechanical issues and recommend solutions.

  • Keep shop tools and work areas clean and organized.

  • Assist in emergency roadside repairs and field service calls as needed.

Skills and Specifications

  • Must be at least 22 years of age.

  • Proven experience as a diesel mechanic, heavy equipment technician, or similar role.

  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen as well as random drug screens throughout employment.

  • Strong knowledge of diesel and gas engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical components.

  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic failures.

  • Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.

  • Ability to read and interpret repair manuals, schematics, and technical documents.

  • Must have own set of basic hand tools (specialty tools provided).

  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to lift heavy parts and work in various weather conditions.

  • CDL is a plus but not required.
